Is it weird...
...that I kinda want a Dodge Omni/Plymouth Horizon?
I don't know why. I just do.
I'd take out the rear two doors and convert it to RWD.

Me too! I've never owned one but have wanted one for awhile. I can't explain it.

I always thought these were the same as the Talbot/Chrysler Sunbeam, but it turns out they're different. The Horizon was FWD and the Sunbeam was RWD
The Sunbeam Lotus was quite the rally weapon back in the day.

Cliche, but probably the best preserved examples, short of Granny's Omnirizon she drives every other week up the block to the post office. And that'd be an automatic.
Edit: Omni. Insanely low miles, and, as predicted, automatic.

I wish these were called the Coyote, like Shelby wanted.

Not weird. And the odds of seeing another one are tiny.

Oh no you don't. Having owned two different non turbo GLH's, Let me tell you what broke. The transmission puked a mainshaft bearing because the roller bearings did not have races and ran on cast iron shafts. The trans guy said they all failed at about 70k miles. Also I wiped out the front wheel bearings twice in autocrosses. The first autocross on each set of bearings. The engine had weird lifter system with a rocker bar that sat under the cam shaft. It was a clever design but when the engine as cold its hard to make oil go up on top of the rocker. Its pollution control system would make it idle at 2500 rpm all with no lubrication for the cam or rocker arem. After an especially cold winter it puked the rocker arm. It also would heat soak in summer and vapor lock. Finally, the seats, shifter, door handles all failed in the 4 years I owned it. No kidding, the car was 4 years old and worn out. There's a reason that people will never own a Chrysler, its because they have already owned one and will not be fooled again.
Maybe if you can find a clean one in sunshine country, its a toy to consider. But its a poor excuse for a reliable car.

My first car was an '85 Shelby Charger (basically a 2-door Omni GLH), it had the most direct feeling steering of any car I have ever driven. The steering had so much feedback that you really needed to grip the wheel while changing lanes, otherwise the front tires would try to pull the steering wheel from your hands as they tried to follow the ruts in each lane.
